About

Built by someone who's been on every side of IT support hiring.

TLU exists because the path into IT was never as clear as it should have been. We built the course we wish had existed.

I'm Abdi. I'm a Technical Consultant specialising in Microsoft technologies and device management. But I didn't start there, and that's the whole point.

In 2017 I was a Banking and Finance student with no technical background. I knew IT only from fixing my own machine at home. I spotted an apprenticeship opportunity, backed myself, and spent the next 10 years learning the craft. First-line support. Mid-line. Team lead. Now consulting.

Along the way I've trained first-line engineers, hired them, and managed them. I've sat across the table in interviews and I know what actually impresses a hiring manager, and what doesn't.

I started Tech Level Up because I kept seeing the same thing: people spending money on CompTIA and similar courses, being told that was enough to get a job in IT. It isn't. Those courses have their place, but they're teaching theory in isolation from the job itself. Hiring managers don't want someone who's memorised definitions. They want someone who can troubleshoot a real issue, navigate Microsoft 365, communicate clearly, and show up like a professional.

TLU exists to close that gap and to build something bigger. As the platform grows, every course we add will be led by an instructor who has done the job, not just studied it. That's the standard.

If you've been wondering whether you're cut out for this — I was once exactly where you are. The opportunity is real. The question is whether you're ready to take it.
